Cessna 180
Semiscale model of American sports plane with rubber band drive and simple construction. Die-cut parts, propeller, rubber band bundle and covering material. Wingspan 508 mm.
Cessna 180 belongs to a large family of Cessna sports and training high-wing aircraft, which have been since the end of II. World War II pillar of General Aviation outside the former Soviet bloc. Just as hundreds of thousands of pilots have trained in the cabins of the real Cessen, our semi-scale model is the ideal first step for a modeler who wants to start building rubber-powered mini-scale models (as a model for basic building experience) such as our Jay, Owl, Spark or Olympic). You will learn to build a "fuselage" skeleton of the fuselage and wings, to work with vacuum molded plastic parts, to coat with paper - simply all the basic skills of classic modeling. Yet the construction is not much, you do not expect hundreds of working hours in the workshop, thanks to highly pre-worked parts it goes like butter.Kit of free flying semiscale models of American sport aircraft designed for driving rubber band. Kit of free flying semiscale models of American sport aircraft designed for driving rubber band. The model is a very simple classic all-balsa construction in plaster with pre-cut wooden parts, dummy accessories made of vacuum-formed plastic and plastic parts made by injection molding
The Cessna 180 is also suitable for converting to a miniature RC model with electric drive - although the construction plan does not offer this variant, this should not be a big problem for a more experienced modeler and pilot. For example, you can try using the powerplant and onboard electronics from our Mini Bee.
Kit contains: balsa pre-cut parts, balsa beams, vacuum molded parts (engine cover), plastic propeller with shaft and head, rubber bundle, plastic wheels, steel wire for chassis and other small parts, covering paper, sheet of decals , construction plan.
Construction tip: The tail and cab are delivered as pre-cut in a balsa board - DO NOT break out the parts! If some of the wood fibers are still "bound" to the cutting board, carefully separate the part with a sharp knife.
Care of the rubber band: Wash the new rubber band carefully in soapy water and allow to dry. Then lubricate it with castor oil (sold in pharmacies) or silicone grease to lubricate fishing lines (available in fishing tackle shops). After flying, remove the model bundle and keep it in a closed plastic bag. Lubricated rubber bundle unwinds more smoothly and with less friction - gives more power and lasts longer. It is also advisable to run the new bundle first - for the first 2-3 years, record only 80-100 turns before it can safely record more.
